About a week ago, my friend Adam introduced me to an awesome blog. Name of the Year. The site is described as follows: “Collecting great names. So you don’t have to.” The site really is that simple and incredible. Every year, they put together a list of incredibly funny names. But these aren’t fictional. These are names of real, living, breathing people.
And these names then square off with each other in a March Madness style tournament. In one region, the 5th seeded Dr. Shasta Kielbasa takes on 12th seeded Cherish …

A question popped into my brain yesterday and I haven’t been able to come to a conclusion yet, so I figure I might as well bring it to the blog. How does someone become an -er or an -ist? (I guess -or fits into the group as well.)
Here’s what I mean. Suppose someone performs a behavior. Is that person then an -er or -ist of that action? If you drink alcohol, are you a drinker?

A major part of any messaging from a brand to its consumers is respecting the consumers. This sounds basic and universally agreed upon, but many marketers fall into a trap by not carefully walking the fine line of targeting an audience.
Consumers like brand that they can relate to and identify with. But people don’t like being blatantly targeted. People really don’t like others making assumptions about their habits, interests, and beliefs. Even in the instance that the assumptions end up being correct, it makes them feel predictable, simple, and not …

About an hour ago, I paid a visit to my car’s trunk hoping to get a look at my spare tire. But there were quite a few items standing between me and that spare. OK, there was a shocking amount of stuff in my trunk and I thought it’d be fun to share.
Car related
- 1 bottle of oil
- 1 bottle of coolant/antifreeze
- 3 towels (I suppose I wanted rags but ended up with towels… multiple times.)
- 3 ice scrapers (I think I had two, but lost them both, yes in …

I just turned on Sports Time Ohio, and to my excitement (I can watch about any sport), I see that Fairmont and Kenton Ridge are competing for the boys Ohio High School Bowling Championship. For the most part, I’m just really impressed with how skilled these bowling teens are.
But one thing did really catch my attention. A few of these guys are bowling with both hands. No, I don’t mean they get up to the line and rock the ball back between their legs and bowl granny style. I mean, …

Lately, I’ve seen a fair share of things that make me smile, and I thought maybe I’d just package them together in a Happy News & Notes blog.

Tyson Gentry is now able to move both his legs. If you’re not familiar with Gentry, he was a punter at OSU who was injured and paralyzed in Spring practice in 2006. http://www.morningjournal.com/articles/2009/02/25/sports/mj665647.txt
Maurice Clarett is blogging from prison. When I first saw this blog about a week ago, I thought it couldn’t really be Clarett’s writing. Think about it. He’s in prison. But, …
